Sales & Business Development Manager

Roles and Responsibilities

• Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the mining, construction, engineering, industrial and related sectors.
  • Prospect for new companies and potential clients on a continuous basis.
  • Identify mines, contractors, construction companies, engineering firms and other organisations that may require client's training services.
  • Identify and engage the relevant decision-makers within prospective organisations.
  • Arrange and attend client meetings.
  • Conduct site visits and presentations.
  • Introduce client's services to prospective clients.
  • Develop new markets for client's training programmes and services.
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within existing client accounts.
• Client Relationship Management
  • Build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Engage professionally with HRD Managers, Training Managers, Safety Managers, Engineers, Site Managers, Project Managers, Procurement Teams and other relevant decision-makers.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients.
  • Conduct regular client visits.
  • Understand client training, compliance and workforce development requirements.
  • Re-engage previous and inactive clients.
  • Ensure clients receive professional and timely service throughout the sales process.
  • Build relationships that lead to repeat and long-term business.
• Sales Pipeline Management
  • Take ownership of the full sales process from prospecting to closing.
  • Maintain an accurate database of existing and prospective clients.
  • Record all calls, meetings, quotations, follow-ups and client feedback.
  • Follow up every quotation submitted to a client.
  • Track the status of all quotations and opportunities.

A relevant qualification in one or more of the following fields will be advantageous:

• Marketing
• Business Management

• Training and Development

Candidates should have:

• Proven sales experience.
• Business development experience.
• B2B or corporate sales experience.
• Experience working with mines, construction companies, engineering companies or industrial organisations.
• Experience dealing directly with corporate decision-makers.
• Experience developing new clients and managing existing accounts.
• Experience selling services will be advantageous.
• Experience with in training, skills development or occupational training will be a strong advantage.
• Experience with quotations, purchase orders, RFQs, tenders and corporate procurement processes will be advantageous.
• Be fluent and professional in English.
• Be able to communicate effectively in Afrikaans
• A valid driver's licence is compulsory.
• Build a sustainable pipeline of new business opportunities.
