Armed Security Guard

IZI Secure has a vacancy for an Armed Guard to be based in Pinetown.

Security Guard responsibilities include:

● Protecting company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.

● Observing for signs of crime or disorder and investigating disturbances.

● Acting lawfully in direct defence of life or property.

Job brief

● The protection of designated people, high-value assets, and facilities from violent crimes
and threats.

● The active armed intervention, patrolling high-risk areas, responding to alarms, and
managing crisis situations while strictly adhering to legal frameworks regarding the use
of force.

● Security Guard is to protect the designated premises, assets, and personnel. You will
maintain a high visibility presence and prevent/report all illegal or inappropriate actions.

● The goal is to detect, deter, observe, and report.

Responsibilities

● Active Protection:
Safeguard VIPs, high-profile individuals, and sensitive locations from
harassment, theft, and physical attack.

● Alarm Response:
Conduct fast-paced responses to panic signals and security breaches,
acting as a deterrent until public law enforcement arrives.

● Access Control:
Monitor entry points, verify the identity of visitors, and manage the
ingress and egress of people and high-value vehicles.

● Patrol & Surveillance:
Patrol designated properties to maintain order, spot safety
hazards (e.g., fire hazards, broken locks), and deter criminal activity.

● Incident Reporting:
Write and submit detailed, objective reports for every noteworthy
development, breach of protocol, or suspected crime.

● Protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.

● Observe signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.

● Act lawfully in direct defence of life or property.

● Apprehend criminals and evict violators.

● Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.

● Report in detail any suspicious incidents.

● Patrol randomly or regularly (at least every hour) the building and perimeter.

● Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.

● Liaise with the National Control Centre (NCC) regarding any problems or incidents.

● Complete the register daily, get OB numbers from the NCC daily.

● Report defective equipment / safety gear immediately.

● Always keep the guardhouse area clean and tidy.

● Any person entering after hours must consent to be searched on exit.

Requirements and skills

● Basic

Education:

A high school diploma (or equivalent, such as a Matric certificate) is
typically required, but Grade 10 is also acceptable.

● Proven work experience as a Security Guard or relevant position.

● Trained security officer with Certificate.

● PSIRA registered.

● Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment.

● Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.

● Surveillance skills and detail orientation.

● Honesty, integrity and professionalism.

● Great communication skills.

● Firearms Competency (Handgun and Rifle) for Business purposes
