Curro Mahikeng is seeking to appoint a dedicated Boarder Caretaker for the Boys’ Hostel. The role involves ensuring that learners residing in the hostel are provided with a safe, caring, and structured living environment that supports their academic, social, and personal development. The caretaker will act in loco parentis, supervising learners, maintaining discipline, and fostering a positive residential culture aligned with the school’s values.

Key performance areas- Supervise and ensure the welfare of hostel learners, acting in loco parentis
- Maintain discipline by enforcing hostel rules, policies, and the Code of Conduct
- Monitor cleanliness, hygiene, and appearance of learners before school
- Manage hostel administration, inventories, and daily operations
- Liaise with staff, parents, and relevant stakeholders regarding learner welfare and maintenance issues
- Organize and facilitate recreational and entertainment activities for boarders
- Conduct daily checks of hostel assets and report damages for follow‑up
- Supervise evening study sessions, weekend activities, and hostel leaders
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping of registers, permissions, and disciplinary processes
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar environment
- Computer literacy and supervisory skills
- Knowledge of the School Act and hostel policies advantageous
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with enthusiasm and empathy with adolescents
- Conflict management and problem‑solving skills
- Multi‑lingual ability advantageous
- Flexible and able to work night‑time shifts
