Senior Java Backend Dev Ops Engineer (Kubernetes | Quarkus | AWS/Azure)

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Java Backend Dev Ops Engineer to join a dynamic Agile team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a cloud-native, Dev Ops environment, enjoys building robust backend systems, and can take ownership of solutions from development through to production support. You’ll play a key role in delivering scalable, high-availability applications

• Java 11+ backend development
• Quarkus and/or Spring frameworks (microservices)
• REST API design and development
• Messaging:
  Kafka & JMS
• Maven build tool
• Docker & containerisation
• Kubernetes (basic administration & commands)
• Git (Git Hub Enterprise)
• CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions)
• Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain Java-based backend applications
• Collaborate within an Agile/Dev Ops team across analysis, design, and testing
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions (Kafka/JMS)
• Develop and support containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated delivery
• Contribute to frontend development (Angular) when required
• Ensure quality through unit and integration testing
• Provide Tier-3 production support and resolve complex issues
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
• Plan and execute system upgrades with minimal disruption
• Troubleshoot production issues to ensure high availability and performance

• Relevant IT degree or equivalent technical qualification
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in advanced Java backend development
