Location: Ballito

AI Intern job vacancy in Ballito, Kwazulu Natal.

Our client is looking for a curious, motivated AI Intern to join their team in Ballito. You will work alongside developers, consultants, and analysts on real internal and client projects — building AI/ML solutions, managing data pipelines, and exploring how emerging AI tools can drive better outcomes for our business and customers.

This is a hands‑on learning opportunity where you will be exposed to the full data and AI lifecycle, from data collection to model deployment and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • AI Development & Integration
    • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models for internal and client projects; integrate AI tools and platforms into company’s digital solutions
  • Data Management & Analytics
    • Collect, clean, and structure data for BI and ML use cases; build and maintain data pipelines, ensuring accuracy and integrity; develop dashboards, reports, and actionable insights
  • Innovation & Research
    • Stay current with advancements in AI, ML, and data science; provide input on how AI can improve efficiency, customer experience, and product development
  • System Support & Collaboration
    • Work alongside developers, consultants, and analysts; contribute to solution architecture discussions; maintain clear documentation of all AI and data assets within the company environment; ensure all work remains within the company’s intellectual property framework
  • Compliance & Governance
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of Company IP and client data; ensure compliance with POPIA and GDPR (where applicable); support the development of ethical, scalable AI solutions

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Understanding of core machine learning concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation)
  • Familiarity with data cleaning and analysis using libraries such as Pandas and Num Py
  • Comfortable using Git and Git Hub for version control
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred / Bonus

Skills:

  • Hands‑on projects using Tensor Flow, PyTorch, or Scikit‑learn
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau dashboards
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure AI, Hugging Face) or frameworks like Lang Chain
  • Chain Familiarity with Docker or basic MLOps workflows
  • A public portfolio or Git Hub showing personal projects

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication in English
  • Curious, self‑driven, and eager to learn
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Reliable and able to manage time across multiple tasks
