Emerging Technology COE Head; Software Engineering

A South African ICT consulting and technology solutions company is looking for an Emerging Technology COE Head (Software Engineering) to join their team in Johannesburg, GP. The company provides technology consulting, managed IT services, software development, cybersecurity, and telecommunications solutions to businesses.

Lead the Software Engineering Function, defining the engineering strategy, operating model, governance and technology roadmap to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality enterprise software solutions that support business growth and digital transformation.

• Define and execute the Software Engineering strategy and roadmap.
• Build, lead, and mentor high-performing Software Engineering teams.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
• Drive the adoption of Agile, Dev Sec Ops , and modern software engineering methodologies.
• Oversee the development, delivery, and maintenance of enterprise applications.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to deliver business objectives.
• Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic technology initiatives.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineering leaders to strengthen leadership capability across the organisation.

• 12+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience leading enterprise Software Engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of modern software architecture and engineering best practices.
• Experience with cloud-native application development using Azure and/or AWS.
• Proven expertise in Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD pipelines, and Agile at Scale methodologies.
• Solid understanding of engineering governance, quality assurance, and software delivery standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and engage executive-level stakeholders.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide technology transformation initiative
