About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Director to join their prestigious Visual Effects (VFX) team in Vereeniging . This role requires a deep understanding of the VFX pipeline, from asset creation to final compositing, with a focus on developing and implementing technical solutions that enhance efficiency and artistic quality. You will work closely with artists and supervisors to troubleshoot complex problems, develop custom tools, and ensure the seamless integration of various software and workflows.

- Oversee and manage the technical aspects of the VFX pipeline, ensuring smooth data flow and integration between departments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain custom tools and scripts to automate tasks and improve artist workflows using Python or similar languages.
- Collaborate with artists and supervisors to identify technical challenges and devise innovative solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to software, hardware, and pipeline integration.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to the studio's pipeline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in VFX, with at least 3 years in a Technical Director or similar technical role.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages, with experience in VFX software APIs.
- In-depth knowledge of the complete VFX pipeline, including modeling, texturing, animation, lighting, rendering, and compositing.
- Experience with industry-standard DCC applications (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Nuke) and renderers.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for effective team collaboration.
