Senior Software Engineer; Java)

Our client, a reputable financial services technology provider, is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java. This role is based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and adopts a hybrid work model, allowing for both in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software solutions for the financial sector. • Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable enterprise applications using Java.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and other engineers to define software requirements and technical designs.
• Develop and maintain APIs and services that integrate with various systems.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects and issues.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive experience with Java development, including deep knowledge of core Java and relevant frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Hibernate).
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture is highly desirable.
• Experience with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, Angular, React) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
