Senior Computer Vision Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join their advanced R&D team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role focuses on developing and implementing state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms for cutting-edge applications. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of computer vision projects, from conceptualization and algorithm design to implementation, testing, and deployment. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of image processing, machine learning, deep learning, and their applications in real-world scenarios.

• Design, develop, and optimize computer vision algorithms for tasks such as object detection, recognition, tracking, segmentation, and 3D reconstruction.
• Implement deep learning models using frameworks like Tensor Flow or PyTorch for various computer vision applications.
• Process and analyze large image and video datasets, ensuring data quality and relevance for model training.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and product managers, to integrate computer vision capabilities into products.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of algorithms, ensuring robustness and performance in diverse conditions.
• Research and stay updated on the latest advancements in computer vision, machine learning, and AI.
• Contribute to the development of a scalable and efficient computer vision pipeline.
• Document algorithms, experiments, and results clearly and comprehensively.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on computer vision projects.

• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with a specialization in Computer Vision or Machine Learning.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in computer vision development.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, with extensive experience using libraries like OpenCV, PCL, Num Py, and ML frameworks (Tensor Flow, PyTorch).
• Proven experience with deep learning architectures for computer vision tasks (e.g., CNNs, Transformers, GANs).
• Solid understanding of image processing techniques and classical computer vision algorithms.
• Experience with data augmentation, model optimization, and deployment on various platforms.
• Familiarity with GPU acceleration and parallel computing is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
