Midvaal Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established third-party courier and logistics company operating throughout the Vaal Triangle.

Our client has been operating successfully for almost 23 years and provides courier and logistics services to major courier companies and corporate clients. The business handles time-sensitive freight ranging from small parcels to palletised deliveries, as well as chain-store back-door deliveries.

We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for the company's day-to-day operational activities.

This is a high-intensive operational management position suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced transport and logistics environment.

• Manage and oversee all daily operational activities.

• Plan and coordinate approximately 22 delivery routes throughout the Vaal Triangle.

• Plan truck routes and chain-store delivery routes.

• Ensure routes are efficiently planned and executed.

• Be present on the warehouse floor every morning to oversee daily operations.

• Manage and supervise drivers and support staff.

• Handle staff discipline and performance-related matters.

• Monitor the movement and control of parcels to ensure that no freight goes missing.

• Ensure daily parcel control and missing-parcel reports are completed.

• Liaise closely with the office regarding collections and deliveries.

• Provide regular updates regarding collection times and expected freight deliveries.

• Resolve daily operational and route-related issues.

• Monitor driver and operational staff performance.

• Ensure company procedures are followed.

• Take full ownership of the daily operational workflow.

• Maintain a strong focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction.

• Previous experience in transport, courier, logistics, fleet or distribution operations
  .

• Proven experience managing drivers and operational staff.

• Experience with route planning and fleet coordination.

• Strong understanding of warehouse and distribution operations.

• Experience handling staff discipline and performance management.

• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work hands-on and be actively involved in daily operations.

• Valid driver's license advantageous.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, decisive, highly organised and service-driven operations professional who is capable of taking full ownership of the company's daily operational requirements.

R25,000 per month, depending on experience and suitability.
