About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and organized Dispatch Officer to manage transportation logistics and coordinate driver activities in Benoni . In this hybrid role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the efficient flow of goods by scheduling routes, tracking vehicles, and communicating with drivers and customers. This position requires excellent communication, multitasking abilities, and a keen eye for detail to optimize operations and resolve any logistical challenges swiftly.
You will contribute to maintaining a high level of service delivery for our clients.
- Schedule and assign drivers and vehicles for delivery routes based on operational requirements and customer needs.
- Monitor vehicle locations and delivery progress using GPS tracking systems.
- Communicate effectively with drivers to provide instructions, updates, and support throughout their shifts.
- Manage and resolve any issues or disruptions that arise during transportation, such as delays or vehicle breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records and generate reports on driver performance and delivery times.
- Liaise with customers to provide delivery information and address inquiries.
- Previous experience in a dispatch , logistics, or transportation coordination role.
- Strong understanding of dispatch procedures and vehicle tracking systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software, including office applications and dispatch systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to a hybrid work arrangement .
