Job DescriptionThe Inventory Manager will be responsible for managing stores and inventory operations within a large industrial environment. The role will oversee stock control, warehouse processes, team performance, ERP data accuracy, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement across maintenance spares, materials, PPE, and related inventory categories.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily stores and inventory operations, including receipts, issues, returns, and planned orders.
- Maintain accurate stock records, systems, and inventory processes.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages, overstocking, and slow-moving inventory.
- Investigate and resolve stock variances in a timely manner.
- Ensure stock items are correctly categorized, maintained, and reordered when required.
- Coordinate stock takes, cycle counts, and inventory audits.
- Manage warehouse layout, storage practices, housekeeping, and space utilization.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, SHERQ, and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate ERP data and support improvements to inventory processes.
- Prepare reports on stock value, obsolete items, slow-moving stock, usage trends, and KPIs.
- Monitor departmental costs, budgets, and expense-related queries.
- Lead and support store supervisors, store personnel, and related team members.
- Drive performance, training, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.
- Work closely with procurement, production, maintenance, quality, and finance teams.
- Support sustainability and waste-reduction initiatives within stock handling and storage.
- Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Operations, or a related field.
- 5–10 years’ experience in inventory, stores, or warehouse management.
- Experience with in an industrial, manufacturing, chemical, mining, or process environment advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of stock control, warehouse operations, planning, and forecasting.
- Experience with ERP systems;
Microsoft D365 experience advantageous. - Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of ISO standards, OHSACT, SHERQ, and safety compliance preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing supervisors or operational teams.
- Strong reporting, problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
- Hands‑on management style with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage stock accuracy, compliance, cost control, and operational efficiency.
