Job DetailsLocation: Manor Court Care Home, Britten Drive, North Road, Southall, UB1 2SH
Contract: Permanent – Part Time
Hours: 14 hours per week. Week One:
Thursday and Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm. Week Two:
Saturday and Sunday. On‑call responsibilities may arise.
Salary: £13.55 to £16.61 per hour, dependent on experience
Responsibilities- Ensure all health, safety and compliance checks are carried out using Bupa Standard Operating Procedures and Bupa compliance management tools.
- Action and close any tasks attributed to the Maintenance Manager or Home Manager.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness within the care home and grounds to satisfy Environmental Health, local Fire Authority, Legionella Risk Assessment and Health & Safety regulations.
- Complete maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard, in a timely manner, ensuring value for money and compliance with Bupa’s brand values.
- Review and document residents’ preferences for their personal space and act upon them.
- Report defects, obtain quotes and manage repairs using Bupa approved contractors in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report irreparable defects to the Home Manager or Property/Maintenance Manager.
- Manage care home elements of refurbishment and capital works programmes, ensuring minimal disruption to residents, visitors and staff.
- Maintain and secure all tools and equipment.
- Assist in the induction of new colleagues on emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures, keeping records as required.
- Provide support to other local care homes within a reasonable distance (no more than 1 hour) when required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Good understanding of building services: heating, hot and cold‑water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing.
- Knowledge of building fabric and its maintenance.
- Practical experience of planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and compliance experience.
- A full driving licence.
- Building, electrical or plumbing qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC) or at least three years of hands‑on experience in property maintenance and general repairs.
- Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Computer literate.
- Good customer service skills.
- Flexibility to meet changing demands within the care home.
- Practical ability and experience in painting and decorating.
