Hygiene Supervisor

Location: Southall Middlesex
Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 depending on experience
Hours: 07:00 - 15:30 working any 5 days out of 7

Our client is a global producer and supplier of French style bakery products including viennoiserie such as croissants and pain au chocolat alongside bread savoury items and pâtisserie. Their frozen part baked and fully baked products are supplied to food service professionals retailers and bakers across more than 100 countries.

They are currently looking to recruit a Hygiene Supervisor to support the delivery of the highest standards of hygiene quality and environmental compliance across the site.

The successful candidate will support the Hygiene Manager in supervising the hygiene team ensuring cleaning standards are maintained across the production environment while promoting a safe and efficient workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and cover the Hygiene Manager during periods of absence
  • Supervise hygiene operatives and external contractors ensuring performance and cost targets are met
  • Monitor daily operations including agency hours approvals and team performance
  • Allocate duties in line with hygiene plans and staff training levels
  • Support the development training and supervision of hygiene and bakery team members
  • Raise timesheets and holiday forms for employees and agency staff
  • Supervise the site pest control programme
  • Support customer audits and visits ensuring hygiene standards are maintained
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in hygiene standards across the site
Health and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Report accidents near misses or safety concerns to the relevant manager
  • Ensure chemicals are stored and handled correctly and appropriate PPE is used
  • Support the development of safe systems of work cleaning schedules and procedures
  • Promote a proactive health and safety culture across the hygiene team
Machinery and Equipment
  • Ensure hygiene equipment and machinery are maintained to high standards and report faults when necessary
  • Monitor waste management including bread dough general waste and cardboard skip exchanges
  • Coordinate work permits isolation procedures and contractor activity for silo or high level cleaning
Quality and Hygiene Standards
  • Carry out hygiene audits and inspections across production areas offices yards silos and facilities
  • Ensure required documentation and cleaning records are completed accurately and on time
  • Instruct and guide production staff on cleaning procedures where required
  • Support production shutdown cleaning audits and reporting
  • Monitor chemical dosing units conduct titration checks and ensure cleaning chemicals are stocked
  • Monitor hygiene standards to drive improvements and efficiency
Communication and Team Support
  • Ensure compliance with quality policies site security procedures and operational standards
  • Communicate effectively with teams across different departments
  • Provide training support and guidance to new staff and agency workers
  • Support other roles within the team when required during absence or busy periods
Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing or food production environment
  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Good understanding of hygiene cleaning procedures and COSHH requirements
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures within a production environment
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Good command of the English language
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
