The Best Connection are currently recruiting for an experienced Specification Technologist in the Southall area. The Specification Technologist plays an important role within the Technical team by ensuring
all product specifications and technical documentation are accurate, up to date and meet customer, legal and company requirements. Working closely with suppliers, customers and internal departments, you will help maintain high standards of food safety, quality and compliance while supporting the day-to-day technical function.
Salary: £39,250
Hours: 9am-17:30pm however flexibility would be required as there is potential for overtime/weekend work.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review and update finished product specifications, ensuring they are completed accurately and within customer deadlines.
- Compile and maintain raw material specifications, ensuring suppliers and the Head of Technical approve them.
- Request and maintain supplier documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), Certificates of Conformity (COCs) and any other technical information required.
- Ensure all raw material and finished product specifications remain current and are reviewed whenever recipes, legislation or supplier information changes.
- Complete customer technical documentation, including Quality Attribute Sheets (QAS), nutritional information and other product information as required.
- Calculate ingredient declarations, allergen information and nutritional values using Nutricalc or similar software.
- Manage and maintain customer specification portals, such as Waves, ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time.
What we are looking for:
- Experience working in a technical role within the food manufacturing industry.
- A good understanding of food safety, quality systems and food legislation.
- HACCP qualification and Internal Auditor training (or willingness to achieve these).
- Experience writing and maintaining product specifications.
- Knowledge of food labelling requirements, ingredient declarations and allergen legislation
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
