British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Patent Operations Assistant in SouthamptonThe role is responsible for supporting the Patents team by assisting in the management and coordination of patent information. This role involves handling administrative tasks, maintaining data accuracy, and providing basic support to ensure smooth operations within the Patents team. Help maintain effective communication between the Patents team and other departments. Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation required for supporting the Patent Strategy and BAT’s vision.
This role contributes to the efficiency of the Patents team by ensuring accurate and timely handling of patent information and supporting various administrative functions. This role involves basic data analysis, problem-solving, and communication with stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities will include:- Assist in managing patent information in BAT’s internal patent database (Anaqua), including data entry and updates.
- Support the creation and maintenance of audit mechanisms to ensure data integrity.
- Assist in managing the accuracy of workbooks and commentary in BAT’s Master Repository database (Patsnap).
- Help coordinate with Patents team members on the storage and management of patent information.
- Provide basic administrative support, such as preparing documents, scheduling meetings and handling correspondence.
- Liaise with external service providers for routine tasks under the guidance of the Patent Operations Coordinator.
- Assist in preparing reports and summaries from the patent databases as needed.
- 1-2 years in an administrative, IP, legal operations or data‑heavy role.
- Experience in data entry and administrative tasks.
- Strong clerical and organisational skills.
- Experience in a large fast paced dynamic environment or legal industry is beneficial
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular strong Excel skills.
