DetailedJob Description And Main Responsibilities
If successful you would be placed in an administrative position suited to your skills. These could be based at University Hospital Southampton, Princess Anne Hospital or Royal South Hants. These roles include but are not limited to:
- Outpatient Administrator Centre – The Outpatient Administrator Centre is at the hub of outpatient administration within the Trust. It is a busy, interesting and often diverse department where we provide support to the clinical outpatient services and excellent customer service to patients.
- Receptionist – You will be the face of the Trust and responsible for meeting and greeting patients and their relatives in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. You may also be responsible for registering patients onto the hospital computer systems and ensuring all personal matters/records are dealt with in a confidential manner.
- Ward Administrator – You will be working on a ward(s) providing administrative support such as managing patient notes, relieving clinical staff of general administrative duties, answering the phone and meeting and greeting patients and relatives.
- Booking Administrator – The role will provide excellent customer service to patients, relatives/carers and external agencies, and you will build good working relationships with the Consultants, the rest of the administrative team and nursing staff.
- Emergency Care Administrator – Within the Emergency Care Unit department is in operation 24/7 – 365 days and the role entails working days, evenings, weekends, nights and bank holidays, all allocated on a pro‑rata basis.
- To provide an excellent customer service to patients, relatives/carers and external agencies.
- Ensure a consistent and effective administrative service is maintained at all times.
- Build relationships with stakeholders externally and internally.
- Have experience of working in a customer services environment.
- Have a friendly and approachable manner.
- Be polite, sympathetic and diplomatic and have a can‑do attitude.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, relatives/carers and to external agencies, including communication face to face, over the telephone and through written correspondence.
- Provide comprehensive administration services and have high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
- High standards of accuracy with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate over the telephone and in person.
- Competent IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- The ability to work independently but also be a good team player.
