Overview

Role: Director of Commercial Strategy & Partnerships

Salary: Depending on experience

Location: Southampton (hybrid - minimum 4 days in the office)

The Director of Commercial Strategy & Partnerships is responsible for designing and executing commercial growth initiatives that sit alongside core Sales and Marketing functions, with a strong focus on strategic partnerships, alliances, routes to market, pricing strategy, and commercial optimisation.

This is a role centred on creating leverage — scaling revenue through partnership ecosystems, commercial structures, and strategic programmes, rather than through direct sales ownership. The position plays a pivotal part in shaping AVASK’s commercial evolution, enabling expansion into new markets, driving partner-led revenue, and strengthening AVASK’s competitive position across global services.

Working closely with the Senior Group Director of Marketing & Sales, this role ensures AVASK capitalises on emerging opportunities across technology, services, and international markets through a structured, insight-led, innovation-driven commercial strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
Develop and execute commercial strategies that support revenue growth, market expansion, and diversification.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Alliances
Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships, including software platforms, marketplaces, enterprise service providers, and global alliances.
  • Proposition Development & Go-to-Market Innovation
Design and optimise AVASK’s commercial propositions across all service lines, ensuring pricing, packaging, and value articulation support competitiveness and revenue targets.
  • Commercial Deal Support
Support strategic and complex commercial negotiations in partnership with senior sales leadership.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Insight
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging partnership landscapes across global e-commerce and service-driven industries.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
Work closely with Finance, Operations, Technology, and Service Delivery to ensure commercial initiatives are scalable, profitable, and aligned with organisational capability.
Essential
  • Extensive experience in a senior commercial, partnerships, strategy, or business development role within the services industry (e.g., e‑commerce services, consultancy, tax/accounting services, logistics services, or technology‑enabled services).
  • Strong understanding of technology ecosystems, platforms, integrations, and digital service models.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and delivering commercial strategies that drive sustainable revenue growth.
  • Proven track record securing and managing high‑value strategic partnerships with technology providers, marketplaces, or service firms.
  • Highly analytical, with strong financial and commercial modelling skills.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to translate insights into actionable commercial plans.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills at senior and C‑suite level.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, growth‑oriented international environments.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams, influence without authority, and manage multiple commercial initiatives concurrently.
Desirable
  • Experience working directly with global e‑commerce platforms (e.g., Amazon, Shopify, Alibaba, logistics platforms).
  • Background in a consultancy, SaaS, fintech, or tech‑enabled services environment.
  • Master's degree in Business, Commercial Strategy, Economics, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • Understanding of regulatory, tax, or compliance‑related service offerings (advantage but not essential).
Benefits
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Annual leave purchase scheme (up to 5 days per year).
  • Company Pension scheme (Royal London).
  • Cycle2

    Work Scheme.
  • Private Healthcare Insurance (Vitality).
  • Flexible working.
  • Regular departmental socials, company wide.
