Job Title:

Packaging Procurement Manager

One of the UK’s largest packaging suppliers is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to support its National Accounts (retail division). This role focuses on providing fully integrated and innovative packaging solutions with excellent customer service. The procurement function is vital, and the team benefits from CIPS accredited training.

Procurement Manager Role

Reporting to the Sales Director and directly supporting the Business Development Director within the National Accounts team, you will be integral in providing solutions to new customers (major retail brands). You will use your packaging manufacturing and design knowledge to source materials and products at the best price, ensuring fulfillment of customer briefs. You will juggle several key customer projects while upholding the company‑wide National procurement strategy.

This full‑time role requires 37.5 hours a week, Monday‑Friday.

Key Duties
  • Management & development of supplier base to deliver maximum service for lowest cost and in line with KPI requirements
  • Maintaining and developing key supplier/manufacturer relationships to source materials and products
  • Staying abreast of the client brief to ensure full understanding of the proposed design process and its impact on required materials/products
  • Work closely with Business Development Director to help input new business proposals and projects
  • Ensure all purchasing transactions are carried out in the most cost‑effective manner
  • Ensure effective communication of the purchasing strategy throughout the national accounts retail division
  • Management and responsibility of the ‘On Time In Full’ measurement for business area and associated customers
  • Liaise with central procurement teams to ensure strategy reflects that of the wider company
  • Effective management of any tender processes
  • Undertake reporting & statistical analysis in relation to associated projects and any new product lines
Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for experienced procurement professionals with a minimum of two years’ experience in corrugate or polythene and/or design‑lead packaging solutions. Prior exposure to working with or alongside a national sales/national accounts function and/or major retail customers is highly advantageous but not essential. Candidates should have a strong leadership style, commercial acumen, effective communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to perform under pressure and within tight time frames.

CIPS accredited training is welcomed.
