About The Role

Balfour Beatty Living Places is looking for an experienced Highways Site Agent to join our Southern region team. You will lead the day‑to‑day delivery of highways construction and maintenance schemes, ensuring work is safe, efficient and completed to the highest technical standards. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in improving infrastructure for the local communities we serve.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading daily delivery of highways schemes, coordinating subcontractors, engineers and operatives to ensure efficient, high‑quality work
  • Managing programmes, resources, cost plans and maintaining accurate site records
  • Driving a Zero Harm culture, conducting safety tours, leading incident investigations and ensuring full CDM/H&S compliance
  • Ensuring technical compliance across all highways works, overseeing temporary works, materials approvals, handover documentation and quality control processes
  • Monitoring budgets and spend, supporting change control and commercial reporting, and tracking KPIs, productivity and operational costs
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, designers and stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and strong working relationships
Who we’re looking for
  • Proven experience as a Site Agent delivering highways civils schemes
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary site teams
  • Excellent understanding of highways construction and safety‑critical activities
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and contractual requirements
  • Ability to develop, interpret and interrogate highways work programmes
  • Confident communicator and effective problem‑solver
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and mobile digital tools
  • Full UK driving licence
  • SMSTS, NVQ Level 3 or 6, NRSWA Supervisor, and CSCS Supervisor/Manager card
  • Safety‑first mindset with commitment to Zero Harm
  • Resilient, adaptable and effective in fast‑paced environments
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
  • Customer‑focused with excellent stakeholder‑management skills
