Trant Engineering is a leading EPC contractor with a strong reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across the UK and internationally. We’re now looking to expand our team with a Section Manager to play a key role in our delivery team at Fawley Refinery. This position reinforces an established, successful team with a breadth of expertise.

The Role

As part ofthe Fawley Delivery Team, the Section Manager is responsible for ensuring thatall activities withintheirarea of responsibilityare carried outsafely, compliantly, andin accordance with project requirements. The Site Manageroversees the day-to-day managementoftheir designated sections within the refinery, ensuring that worksare delivered safely, onprogramme, within budget, and to the required standards of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ), client contract requirements, and all applicable regulatory obligations. The role is responsible for managingsite personnel, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, and resolving day-to-day siteissues to maintain efficient project delivery.

Acting as thekey interface betweentheconstruction, engineering, and commissioning teams. The successful candidate will drive productivity, standards and quality.

What You’ll Be Doing Technical Responsibilities:
Site Management
  • Manage and supervise site teams, including subcontractors and operatives.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of construction and installation works.
  • Manage site resources, plant, and materials effectively.
  • Maintain quality standards, inspections, and defect management.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Carry out duties in accordance with Company Management System, Policies, Statutory and Client requirements.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor site progress against programme and report issues or delays to the Senior Site Manager / Contracts Manager.
  • Conduct risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.
  • Follow CDM Regulations, site rules, permits to work, and isolation procedures.
  • Provide regular site progress reports, including programme updates and resource usage.
  • Maintain site records, quality documentation, and Health & Safety logs.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Stakeholder Communication
  • High degree of client and subcontractor engagement.
  • Maintain communication with internal teams regarding project progress.
  • Help prepare project reports, presentations, and progress updates.
  • Close liaison with commercial and planning staff to ensure that work proceeds within budget and schedule.
  • Resolve site issues proactively, escalating as required.
  • Support handover and client acceptance activities.

What We’re Looking For Essential
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent site management health and safety certification.
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager delivering projects in the Oil & Gas, water and/or energy sectors.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary site teams and subcontractors, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
  • Experience overseeing site delivery on programme, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Demonstrable experience in health, safety, and environmental compliance on construction or engineering sites.
Desirable
  • HNC, HND, or Degree in Construction, Project Management or Civil Engineering.
  • CDM Coordinator/Management training relevant to UK construction projects.
  • Experience working on AMP, D&B, EPC, or regulated utility frameworks.
  • Exposure to commissioning or handover activities, coordinating closely with engineering and commissioning teams.
  • Experience liaising with clients, regulators, and statutory authorities on-site.
