An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the delivery team on a major industrial construction project. The successful candidate will take commercial responsibility for a key project package, working under a JCT contract within a complex live operational environment.

This is primarily a site-based role, requiring a strong on-site presence to support project delivery, although there may be some flexibility for occasional remote working depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial aspects of a major construction package throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Administer and manage the project under the terms of the JCT contract.
  • Prepare, review and manage valuations, applications for payment and interim accounts.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Identify, assess and manage variations, change control and commercial risks.
  • Prepare, negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and commercial performance.
  • Produce accurate commercial reports and cost forecasts for senior management.
  • Identify commercial opportunities and implement appropriate mitigation strategies where required.
  • Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, planners and stakeholders to ensure effective commercial management.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations and industry best practice.
  • Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major construction, industrial, energy, process plant, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience administering JCT contracts.
  • Experience managing significant commercial packages from procurement through to final account.
  • Excellent cost management, forecasting and financial reporting skills.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using commercial management systems.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership (RICS or working towards chartership) desirable.

Working Arrangement

This role is predominantly site-based and requires regular attendance to support project delivery. Some flexible working may be available subject to project requirements; however, candidates should expect to spend the majority of their time on site.
