Leading Main Contractor A leading UK contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a £16 million residential development in Tulse Hill, South London . This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to take a key role on a significant project, working alongside an experienced project and commercial team from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of the project, ensuring costs are controlled, risks are managed and commercial opportunities are maximised. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the commercial and financial aspects of the project Subcontract procurement, tendering and package management Preparing and managing valuations, variations and payments Cost reporting and forecasting Managing subcontractor accounts and negotiations Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities Reviewing and agreeing final accounts Working closely with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager and wider commercial team Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners About You We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with main contracting experience , ideally with a background in residential or similar high-value construction projects.
You will be commercially astute, confident managing subcontractors and packages, and comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment.
Key requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor Experience working on residential projects is highly desirable Strong subcontract procurement and commercial management experience Good understanding of contracts, variations and final accounts Excellent communication and negotiation skills Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Relevant construction/commercial qualification preferred
