Position Overview
Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with a secondary school located near Bitterne, Southampton, to recruit a Food Technology Teacher. This exciting maternity cover position starts in January 2026 and will run through to July 2026, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
You’ll be joining a friendly and forward-thinking Design & Technology department, passionate about fostering creativity and practical learning. This role would suit both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators who have a genuine passion for inspiring students through Food Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Inspire students to develop essential cooking and nutrition skills, as well as an understanding of healthy lifestyles.
Track and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to drive improvement.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and department initiatives.
Maintain high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and engagement.

What We’re Looking For:
A degree in Food Technology, Design & Technology, or a related subject (essential).
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred).
Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
A positive, engaging approach to teaching with a real passion for the subject.
