Behavioural Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary SEND Provision

Southampton (near Shirley) | £88–£100 per day | Full‑time, Term‑time

We are supporting a specialist primary SEND provision in the Southampton area (close to Shirley) to recruit a committed Behaviour Support Assistant. This setting supports pupils aged 4–11 with complex learning needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and behaviours that may challenge.

The Role

Provide behaviour and learning support within small, specialist classes.

Work closely with teachers and senior staff to implement behaviour plans and regulation strategies.

Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.

Contribute to a positive, resilient team culture where staff wellbeing is prioritised.

Opportunity to train as a Securicare Physical Intervention practitioner (training provided).

Liaise with external professionals and contribute to behaviour reviews and planning.

What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting children with SEND or behaviour needs (school, care, or community settings).

Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

A reflective, resilient approach and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.

GCSE/Level 4+ in English and Maths (or equivalent).

Understanding of positive behaviour support and de‑escalation strategies.
