Music Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (Southampton)

Start Date:
After February Half Term 2026
Contract Type:
Long-term until June 2026
Pay: £120 – £150 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a Music Cover Supervisor to support a modern school in Southampton. The role begins after February half term and continues until June 2026.
You will be supervising pre-planned Music lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, ensuring learning continues effectively in the teacher’s absence. The school is looking for someone with a genuine musical background, ideally with the ability to play and teach a selection of instruments.
You should feel confident managing a class, maintaining engagement, and delivering lessons using the plans and resources provided.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about Music who enjoys working with young people. Those with experience delivering informal music tuition, ensemble support, or peripatetic lessons are also encouraged to apply.

Ideal Candidate
Experience supervising classes or delivering educational sessions to young people
A musical background, with the ability to teach or demonstrate multiple instruments
Confident classroom management and a positive, proactive approach
Able to follow lesson plans and maintain continuity of learning
Reliable, adaptable, and able to build rapport with students
