About the role

We are looking to appoint dedicated, engaging and inspiring teaching assistants to join our team in the resource base for deaf children at Newlands School. You will be required to support and assist with the development of deaf children within the school. The role will involve a combination of class-based support and withdrawal for specialist interventions under the guidance of a Teacher of the Deaf.

About

you

Experience of working in mainstream schools and knowledge of the primary National Curriculum is key to understanding our high expectations for deaf learners. Candidates must have achieved a pass at GCSE level for English and Maths. Strong applicants will also have experience supporting children with additional needs, preferably children with hearing loss or speech and language difficulties and will be able to demonstrate an enthusiastic and pro‑active approach, adapting quickly to new situations or challenges.

A knowledge of signing is desirable but more important, is the confidence and commitment to learn with the support of our already skilled team. For the right candidate we will consider part‑time hours.
