Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary Phase

Location: Southampton

Hours: 08:30 – 15:30, Full‑Time

Pay: £90 – £110 per day

Start Date: ASAP – July 2026 (with the possibility to go permanent for the right candidate)

Are you a qualified and confident HLTA ready to lead learning across the primary phase? Supply Desk is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a full‑time role in an energetic Ofsted “Good” rated school in Southampton
.

This role is open only to qualified HLTAs who have the strength and experience to deliver whole‑class teaching
, lead small group sessions
, and run targeted interventions
. You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of learning and behaviour across the school, with the support of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).

• Provide whole‑class cover during teacher absences, using pre‑prepared lesson plans
• Work across all primary year groups as required
• Lead interventions and small group support for targeted pupils
• Collaborate with LSAs to ensure every pupil is engaged and supported
• Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
• Opportunity for a permanent contract for the right candidate

• Holds HLTA status or a Level 3 qualification equivalent
• Has proven experience delivering whole‑class lessons
• Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management
• Is confident working across the primary age range
• Is proactive, flexible, and a team player
• Is passionate about making a real impact in children’s education
