This role involves working within the Wessex Deanery (based in the Dorset Patch) supporting GP trainees who are International Medical Graduates. It involves working in conjunction with the IMG lead AD, addressing Differential Attainment and supporting Equality and Diversity and Inclusion.
This is a Training Programme Director role for 1 session in the Wessex Deanery.
Main duties of the jobDelivery and organisation of projects to support IMG trainees, including induction, one‑one support and small group support.
Work with Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good quality supervision for IMG trainees, with a view to closing the DA gap. This includes exam support and engaging with EDI projects.
Collaborate with other TPDs, an Associate Dean, Head of School and Primary Care Dean.
Qualifications and Training- General practitioner with MRCGP.
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (e.g., educator courses, Train the Trainer).
- Proactive approach and evidence of CPD within clinical role.
- Applicants should either work in NHS clinical practice (or similar setting) or have previously undertaken clinical practice within the last 2 years prior to the intended start date of the role.
- Approved GP trainer or clinical supervisor.
- Educational qualification e.g. Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, Certificate or diploma in medical education or management.
- Able to demonstrate NHSE's values and commitment to the values described in the NHS Constitution.

- Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies, including an understanding of healthcare/multi‑professional workforce, the Gold Guide and educational theory.
- Experience of working with learners and doctors in training in an educational context.
- Experience of clinical and educational leadership including across multi‑professional teams.
- Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, National Institute for Health Research and academic training, NHS organisations and regulatory bodies.
- Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
- Previous experience in the recruitment and selection of doctors/learners to educational programmes.
- Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education.
- Understanding of current health, social care and education policy.
- An understanding of healthcare/multi‑professional workforce matters.
