Head Teacher (Catholic Primary School)

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Upminster, seeks an inspirational practising Catholic Head Teacher to lead the two‑form entry school from January 2027. The role requires spiritual, strategic and operational leadership to support the school’s Gospel values and Catholic identity.

  • Provide high expectations for all children, staff, families and governors.
  • Lead the community and promote the school’s strong foundations.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Practising Catholic (reserved post).
  • Current or former Head Teacher or Deputy Head Teacher with experience in at least two primary phases.
  • Successful track record of strategic Catholic leadership.

Additional requirements:

enhanced DBS check and other relevant employment checks.

SEN Teacher (Special Educational Needs)

Lead a small class group of learners with complex needs, delivering engaging and personalised teaching that supports both academic achievement and personal development.

  • Deliver tailored and engaging lessons across a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Support learners to develop independence, communication and life skills alongside academic outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists and families.
  • Create a positive, structured and motivating learning environment.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate learner progress and achievement.
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and person‑centred planning.

Qualifications and experience:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Experience working with learners with SEND, ideally within a post‑16 setting.
  • Creative, adaptable, nurturing approach to teaching.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Assist with a wide range of duties in the busy main school office, working under the direction of the Office Manager.

  • Administration linked to student data:
    Free School Meals, Pupil Premium, authorised absences, student references, school trips and events.
  • Receptionist cover duties and support with student attendance.
  • Finance administration and First Aid.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised, reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Flexible and able to prioritise workload.
  • Computer skills:
    Word, Excel, SIMS, School Comms.
  • Very good written and spoken English.
