Deputy Head Teacher – Eastleigh Campus
Fair Ways is seeking a Deputy Head Teacher to join our specialist Autism School. The role is based at our Eastleigh campus and supports about 40 young people across two sites in Totton and Eastleigh. The Deputy Head will be responsible for person‑centred programmes and a unique autistic curriculum, supporting students who have faced challenges in mainstream environments.
Key Responsibilities- Day to Day Operations – Responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the school, leading staff and students in the absence of the Head of School, overseeing behaviour, education, placements, training and Health & Safety.
- Quality Assurance, Policy and Delivery – Oversee the quality assurance of all curriculum, ensure compliance with legislation and charity policies, and maintain high standards of education and training.
- Leading and Supporting Regulatory Inspections – Ensure a minimum Ofsted grading of GOOD is maintained or improved across all services.
- Keeping Children Safe – Act as DDSL, undertake safeguarding training, manage disclosures and concerns, and uphold safety and wellbeing for students and staff.
- Trauma‑Informed Practice – Use RiiSE training to provide trauma‑informed responses and therapeutic or, where appropriate, physical interventions.
- Positive Relationships – Build respectful relationships with students, parents, and staff, maintaining professional boundaries.
- People Management and Training – Engage with staff and managers, support professional relationships, and oversee the quality of education delivery.
All candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a car. Successful candidates will provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS); the cost will be paid by Fair Ways. This role does not offer VISA sponsorship; applicants must be able to prove right to work in the UK.
Qualifications- Relevant teaching qualifications, including Qualified Teacher Status or QTLS.
- Experience in management within an educational setting, preferably overseeing Autism and/or SEMH support, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
