Position: A Level Politics & Sociology Tutor Required – SO31 Area
Location: Bursledon

The Catch Up Academy is seeking an experienced and engaging tutor to provide 1:1 face-to-face tuition in A Level Politics and A Level Sociology for a highly motivated young person preparing for examinations in Summer 2028.

This is an exciting opportunity to support an academically able student who is passionate about learning and is committed to achieving their potential through personalised tuition.

The Role

* Start Date:

September 2026

* Duration:
September 2026 until Summer 2028 examinations

* Hours:

8 hours per week

* 4 hours A Level Politics

* 4 hours A Level Sociology

* Delivery:
Face-to-face, 1:1 tuition

* Exam Board: AQA

About the Student

The student is exceptionally bright, articulate and intellectually curious, with aspirations to progress to university. They particularly enjoy discussion-based learning, critical thinking and exploring complex ideas.

They learn best in a calm, supportive environment where they can develop confidence, ask questions freely and engage in meaningful debate. The student is highly motivated and keen to achieve strong A Level outcomes but benefits from a personalised approach that recognises the impact of anxiety and sensory sensitivities.

This role would suit a tutor who enjoys stretching able students, encouraging independent thinking and making learning engaging and relevant.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

* Has experience teaching A Level Politics and/or A Level Sociology.

* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or has significant experience delivering A Level tuition.

* Can build a positive and trusting professional relationship.

* Delivers engaging, discussion-led lessons that encourage analytical thinking.

* Can adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.

* Is patient, flexible and able to provide a calm, encouraging learning environment.

* Understands how to support students with anxiety and promote confidence in learning.
