QTS English Tutor

Make an Impact Through Personalised Learning

We're looking for a QTS-qualified English Tutor to work with children and young people across Southampton and the surrounding Hampshire areas who require a more personalised approach to education.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide 1:1 tuition to learners who may be out of mainstream education, awaiting specialist placements, or facing barriers that have impacted their progress. Through tailored support, you'll help students develop their English skills, build confidence, and work towards positive educational outcomes.

This role offers the flexibility to focus on what matters most: supporting individual learners and helping them achieve success.

What You'll Need

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including teaching, tutoring, mentoring, learning support, or similar roles
Strong English subject knowledge
Ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
Experience supporting students with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is advantageous
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, creative, and adaptable approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Access to a vehicle is desirable; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across Hampshire

You'll work with children and young people with a variety of needs, including:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance
EHCPs and additional educational needs

Your role will be to create a positive learning experience that helps each student make progress both academically and personally.
