Position: Cover Supervisor at Deer Park School

About this Role

Cover Supervisor - 32.60 hours per week, two days 8.15am to 3.10pm and threedays of 8.15am to 4.10pm, days to be agreed, term time only (38 weeks). Grade D, Step 1 - Actual Annual Salary of £21,199.24(which is the equivalent of a full-time salary of £28,696).

As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing RAISE Education Trust is trialling a two week half term break 19th to 30th October
2026. Following this trial, should the Trust revert back to a one-week October half term break from 2027 the contractual working weeks would increase to 39weeks and the salary would increase accordingly.

Deer Park School is anew, state of the art, seven-form secondary school which opened in September
2021. At present there are just under 1,000 students on roll across Yr7, 8, 9,10 & 11. We are part of the RAISE Education Trust, which comprises of Deer Park Secondary School, Wildern Secondary School and Boorley Park Primary School. We will have a PAN of 1,050 when full.

The Cover Supervisor role offers the successful candidates the perfect opportunity to become involved in the learning of young people. This can be a career in itself, orserve as a springboard to a teaching career or other work with young people inthe future. We support our cover supervisors' specialisms about which they are passionate, whilst also providing breadth of experience. The ability to work asa team and learn new skills is more important than previous experience, andfull training will be provided.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a candidate looking to move into teaching. Three days a week,the candidate would be involved in leading extra-curricular clubs and attending staff meetings to further support their professional development.

Duties include supporting a mixture of classes during the absence of the regular class teacher, setting the work provided, monitoring/managing behaviour and keeping students on task as well as supporting teachers in the classroom. You will havehigh standards of expectations, deliver lively and engaging lessons from existing plans, and support students by responding to questions. Although youwill not be teaching, ensuring the students stay on task is most important, sogood classroom management is essential.

In quieter times, you may also be expected to provide classroom and technic support, exam invigilation and general admin support including working with the Senior Administrative Officerin organising pre planned cover timetables.
