SEN Teaching Assistant | Southwark Are you looking to build your experience supporting pupils with additional needs within a Southwark primary or secondary school? This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity would suit someone who is patient, proactive and genuinely interested in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. As an SEN Teaching Assistant , you will work alongside teachers and the wider SEN team to provide targeted support to pupils who require additional help with their learning, communication, behaviour or development.

The role offers valuable experience for graduates and aspiring teachers looking to develop their understanding of SEND provision. Full Academic Year | £500 £ 550 per week What the school can offer an SEN Teaching Assistant:
Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. Opportunities for one-to-one and small-group intervention work. The chance to work closely with teachers and experienced SEN professionals. Practical experience supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. A supportive environment where individual pupil needs are taken seriously. Valuable experience for future careers in teaching, SEND, Psychology and related fields. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils to access lessons and the wider curriculum. Providing one-to-one and small-group learning support. Breaking down tasks and adapting explanations where required. Supporting pupils with communication, organisation and independence. Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement. Working alongside teachers to implement individual support strategies. Monitoring pupil progress and sharing observations with relevant staff. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:
Have experience working with children or young people. Have a genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education. Be patient, consistent and approachable. Have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be confident supporting pupils who may require additional structure or encouragement. Be able to build positive professional relationships with pupils. Be committed to helping pupils become more independent learners.
