Reeson Education is seeking a caring and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant for current and upcoming opportunities around Winchester. This SEN Teaching Assistant role involves helping pupils with additional educational needs access learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you may support pupils individually, work with small groups or assist within a specialist classroom depending on the assignment.
The SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff and follow established strategies rather than independently deciding a pupils support programme.
Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching AssistantA SEN Teaching Assistant May- Reinforce classroom learning.
- Adapt resources under teacher guidance.
- Support pupils working towards individual learning targets.
- Encourage communication and social interaction.
- Support pupils during transitions.
- Help pupils develop organisation and independence.
- Use agreed strategies to support emotional regulation.
- Record relevant observations.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other staff.
An effective SEN Teaching Assistant should be patient, dependable and able to respond thoughtfully when pupils find situations difficult.
Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant is beneficial, although experience in care, mentoring, youth work, childcare or similar roles can provide valuable transferable skills.
