Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking building services consultancy in Southampton.

This role offers the opportunity to lead high-profile projects across commercial, residential, education, and healthcare sectors, while mentoring junior engineers and driving innovative, sustainable electrical design solutions.
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will take ownership of complex building services projects from concept through to delivery, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of electrical building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, comms/data, and security
Prepare, review, and approve technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports
Manage project timelines, deliverables, and client communications
Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering professional and technical growth
Collaborate with mechanical, architectural, and sustainability teams to deliver integrated MEP solutions
Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, building regulations, and sustainability standards
Represent the consultancy in client meetings, workshops, and design reviews
Contribute to business development and internal process improvements
Candidate Profile

Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward chartership (CIBSE, IET, or similar)
5+ years’ experience in consultancy electrical building services design
Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, design coordination, and project delivery
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux)
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
Proven experience leading design teams and delivering complex projects
