Job Description & How to Apply Below
Altera Recruitment Group is partnered with an innovative clean technology business developing advanced solutions to decarbonise industrial heat. Operating at the intersection of thermal energy storage, fluid systems, and automation, this organisation is tackling one of the largest contributors to global emissions.
The Process Controls Engineer will sit at the core of system development, bridging fluid systems, automation, and controls. The role combines concept level design with hands on testing and optimisation, influencing how complex industrial systems operate in live environments.
This position suits engineers who enjoy variety, technical challenge, and seeing their work transition from design into operation.
Key Responsibilities of the Process Controls Engineer include:
* Own and develop control logic and operating sequences for industrial thermal and steam based systems
* Define high level control strategies to support safe and efficient system operation
* Specify instrumentation and control hardware including valves, sensors, and drives
* Support prototype testing, optimisation, and customer site commissioning
* Collaborate closely with mechanical, process, and automation teams
Requirements:
* Experience designing control sequences for complex or novel industrial systems
* Strong understanding of fluid systems and control instrumentation
* Familiarity with PLC based control environments and industrial automation
* Ability to work across design, testing, and site based activities
* Clear communicator within multi discipline engineering teams
What You'll Receive:
* Salary between £55,000 and £70,000 depending on experience
* Flexible working options including part time hours if required
* Share options, pension scheme, and car salary sacrifice
* Supportive, inclusive culture with strong engineering collaboration
* Regular involvement in real world projects with visible outcomes
This role offers the chance to shape the control philosophy of a new generation industrial energy system. Rather than maintaining legacy assets, the successful engineer will directly influence how future low carbon heat solutions are designed, controlled, and deployed
