This opportunity is for a Senior Structural Designer to support brownfield oil and gas project delivery in a technically demanding environment. The Senior Structural Designer will contribute to the preparation and checking of structural design outputs while supporting safe, practical, and accurate execution of work. This position is well suited to a Senior Structural Designer with strong design coordination capability, survey awareness, and experience working across construction and engineering deliverables.
The role offers the chance to apply technical structural design expertise across varied project activities with a focus on quality, safety, and delivery to planned dates.
This role sits within the oil and gas sector and supports brownfield project activity. The working environment includes site-based delivery and may involve offshore and onshore surveys. The position supports structural design and construction-related deliverables across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and check structural design deliverables for brownfield oil and gas projects.
- Prepare and check Construction Workpacks and Material Requisition s.
- Produce structural estimates and COG calculations.
- Review and interpret client specifications and Scopes of Work.
- Develop site sketches and prepare survey reports following offshore or onshore surveys.
- Support model reviews and technical presentations.
- Apply knowledge of welded and bolted connections, pipe supports, rigging design, and installation practice.
- Maintain focus on safety in structural design while meeting planned delivery dates.
- Work independently and actively support continuous professional development and competence maintenance.
- Apply relevant regulatory and procedural understanding within structural design activities.
- Strong knowledge of brownfield oil and gas projects.
- Working knowledge of PDMS.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
- Proficiency using Navisworks.
- Ability to prepare and check structural design deliverables and construction workpacks.
- Knowledge of welded and bolted connections.
- Knowledge and understanding of pipe supports.
- Ability to read and understand client specifications and Scopes of Work.
- Ability to travel to offshore and onshore sites and carry out surveys.
- Understanding of rigging design and installation practice.
- Understanding of the principles of safety in structural design.
- Ability to work to own initiative and meet planned dates.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation.
- HNC or relative experience preferred.
- Knowledge and use of LFM software.
