At NEP UK, our Audio team are behind the sound of some of the biggest sporting, entertainment and live events in the world. From Premier League football and major sporting championships to entertainment shows, reality TV and international productions, our engineers work with some of the most advanced audio technology in the industry to help bring live content to millions of viewers.
We’re looking for enthusiastic and technically curious Audio Assistants (Sound) to join our Engineering team and start building a career in broadcast sound.
This is an opportunity to get hands-on with professional broadcast technology, learn from experienced Audio Engineers and see how the skills you’re developing come together in real live production environments.
You might already have experience in live events, theatre, music, radio or production. You might have studied audio or sound engineering and be looking for your first opportunity in the industry. Or you may simply have a real passion for sound and technology and want the opportunity to turn that interest into a career.
You don’t need to know everything on day one. What matters is your curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We’ll help you develop the technical knowledge, practical experience and confidence to progress towards becoming an Audio Engineer.
What will you be doing?
You’ll work alongside experienced Audio Engineers and wider technical teams, getting involved in the preparation, deployment and operation of audio systems for outside broadcasts and live productions.
You’ll see the whole journey, from preparing equipment at base, to supporting a production on site, to bringing everything back and getting it ready for the next job.
You’ll:
- Help prepare, test and maintain professional broadcast audio equipment
- Support the set-up and de-rig of audio systems on outside broadcasts and live events
- Learn how audio systems are configured and operated within OB trucks and flypacks
- Assist with cabling, microphone deployment, communications, talkback and audio routing
- Support engineers with equipment checks and fault-finding
- Help make sure equipment is maintained to NEP’s high standards and ready for its next production
- Work alongside Engineering, Operations, Logistics and Production teams
- Maintain accurate equipment records and support technical documentation
- Learn and apply best practice in broadcast engineering, health and safety and live production
Where will your skills take you?
There’s a huge amount to learn in broadcast audio, and this role gives you the opportunity to build a broad technical foundation.
You’ll develop your knowledge and practical experience across areas such as:
Audio systems & signal flow Understanding how audio moves through complex broadcast systems, from source to transmission.
Mixing & consoles
Learning about professional broadcast audio consoles and mixing workflows.
Microphones & RF Developing practical knowledge of microphones, wireless systems and RF audio.
Communications Working with talkback, intercom and communications systems that keep production teams connected.
Audio networking
Building your understanding of technologies such as Dante…
