Finance Manager

Chalk Hill Group are working with a well-established SME, based in Southampton, that is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join the business on a 9-12 month fixed-term contract. This is a hands‑on role offering the opportunity to lead a small finance team of three while supporting the wider business through a period of change and growth.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and effective management of the finance team.

• Oversee all day-to-day financial operations, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and payroll oversight
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital requirements
• Ensure timely balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close processes
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decision‑making
• Maintain and improve financial controls, processes and procedures
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and other stakeholders as required
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements

• Qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance position within an SME environment
• Experience managing or supervising finance staff
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting skills
• Intermediate to advanced level Excel and financial systems experience (Xero, Sage, Quickbooks)

• Competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000
