This role focuses on managing and continually improving robust financial processes within a regulated FTSE organisation. You will ensure the integrity of the ledger, accuracy of the trial balance, and support the wider compliance agenda.

Reporting to the Business Unit Reconciliation Finance Manager, you will oversee automated financial feeds, prepare and post manual journals, and provide meaningful insight and commentary on key spend areas while building strong relationships across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and deliver monthly and quarterly financial processes for Business Units, ensuring trial balance accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying, investigating, and resolving exceptions promptly.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly Lead Schedules with clear commentary on the balance sheet position.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and outputs, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Manage governance tools, ensuring evidence, controls, and signoffs are maintained.
  • Provide leadership to team members through check‑ins, meetings, and progress monitoring.
  • Assist in preparing information for external audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the wider finance team, promoting best practices and consistent standards.
  • Document and update all accounting and financial processes, reflecting policy or regulatory changes.
About You
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge: ledger management, balance‑sheet reconciliations, trial balance integrity.
  • Proven ability to improve financial processes, embedding efficiencies in a controlled environment.
  • High attention to detail, capable of identifying, investigating, and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide clear insight and commentary on financial performance.
  • Effective stakeholder management and ability to build relationships across Finance.
  • Good understanding of governance, risk, and control frameworks in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to present financial information clearly.
  • Capacity to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines, especially during monthly and quarterly cycles.
  • Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement of processes, controls, and outputs.
  • Collaborative team player with experience supporting and developing colleagues.
  • Progression toward or holding a professional accounting qualification is desirable.
