- Act as a deputy to the Team Manager and cover their responsibilities where required, ensuring customer requests are completed within agreed timescales and maintain quality.
- Drive service and process improvements, ensuring risk awareness and making relevant decisions.
- Utilise operational management tools and visual management techniques.
- Organise staff training and deliver feedback as appropriate.
- Undertake 1:1s with team members to aid development and provide exposure to line‑management duties in line with succession plans.
- Support the Team Manager in actively engaging and motivating staff.
- Deliver best practice and have knowledge of internal and external business issues to recommend process, service and operational improvements.
- Identify key risks, conduct root‑cause analysis, include findings in the risk framework and plan mitigation.
- Liaise with internal partners such as Risk or Finance to ensure compliance with policies and requirements.
- Experience managing people in relation to processes and allocation of work within operational areas, or proven experience within the Life, Pensions or Investment industry.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement activities with a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products, especially Excel.
- CF1 and/or FA2 CII qualification desirable but not essential.
