An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join our Financial Management team here at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare. The trust specialises in mental health, adult & child community health & learning disabilities across Hampshire and the IOW. We are looking to recruit a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our finance team in providing support to our Estates Services Division.

The Financial Management Team is responsible for delivering accurate and easy to understand financial information and providing high quality financial advice, working alongside the divisions and corporate services to make the best decisions for the Trust and patients. We're a friendly team and have flexible working practices to support people in maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle for home and work life.

Working alongside finance clinical and corporate teams, this role will provide you with an opportunity to be part of a forward looking and innovative organisations with a thriving research and finance team that provides a comprehensive advice and support.

The post holder will need to have excellent communication skills to assist them in dealing with a wide range of people and interest in investigating and solving problems using a range of information sources and systems.

Interviews are planned to take place on Tuesday 11 August 2026.

Main duties of the job

Preparation of expenditure, income, payroll and budget journals for input into the general ledger, ensuring that all financial information is processed in accordance with procedures and accounting standards.

Review monthly budget reports to identify, investigate and report on variances from plan and provide supporting data as required.

Assist in ensuring financial feeder systems interface accurately and completely with the general ledger for the relevant areas.

Assist the budget setting process, including maintaining schedules and ensuring reconciliations are undertaken as required.

Undertake various costing exercises.

Able to present and explain complex and specialist financial information in a simple and understandable format to both financial and non-financial managers.

Develop and improve the relationships with other departments. Assisting other members of the team in resolving difficult problems analysing the range of options and taking preferable action to bring to a satisfactory resolution.

Assist Finance colleagues with the collection of information for audit when required.

Efficiently manage large volumes of complex data whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Ad hoc project work including support into business cases as required.

Deputise for the Senior Management Accountant/Finance Manager when required.

Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
