Position: RECORDS & INFORMATION ANALYST

The Information Governance Section supports the Council to meet its statutory responsibilities relating to records management, information governance, data protection, transparency and information security. Effective records and information management are essential to ensuring the Council can deliver services efficiently, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and support good decision-making.

The Council is currently undertaking a number of significant transformation programmes, including accommodation rationalisation, digital transformation and service modernisation initiatives. These programmes require specialist records management expertise to ensure information assets are identified, reviewed, retained, digitised, archived and disposed of appropriately.

This role will play a key part in supporting these programmes and establishing a sustainable, modern approach to records and information management across the organisation.

About the job

We are seeking a Records & Information Analyst to lead records management and digitisation activities across the Council and provide specialist support to major corporate programmes and service improvement projects.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the Council’s Records Management and Digitisation Service, providing specialist advice to support transformation, accommodation and digital programmes.
  • Undertake information audits, appraisal and disposal activities, identifying records for retention, digitisation, archiving or secure destruction.
  • Develop and implement compliant retention, disposal and archiving arrangements in line with legislation, Council policies and records management standards.
  • Produce guidance, training and support to promote good records and information management practices across the organisation.
  • Support compliance with records management, information governance, Freedom of Information and data protection requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with services and project teams to improve information management, reduce information risks and contribute to wider Information Governance activities.
  • Involves leadership of the Council's Records Management and Digitisation Services.
  • Opportunity to support some of the Council's most significant transformation programmes

The role is:

  • Based at County Hall with hybrid working available.
What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for:

  • Knowledge of records management principles, retention and disposal processes, and information lifecycle management.
  • Experience of undertaking information audits, records reviews or records rationalisation projects.
  • Experience supporting digitisation or information management projects.
  • Ability to analyse information, identify risks and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing guidance, procedures or training materials.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and standards relating to information governance and records management

This vacancy is suitable for post share.

This post is temporary until 31/03/2028.
