Amyloidosis Clinical Nurse Specialist – University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a 2‑year Band 7 Amyloidosis Clinical Nurse Specialist position funded by Pfizer. The role focuses on improving equity of access and strengthening clinical services for patients with a diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis and establishing the Trust as a regional centre of excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Heart Failure Integrated Service, you will:
- Develop dedicated cardiac amyloid clinics and provide expert advice, information and support to patients and their families.
- Assist local multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) working, develop and deliver education for colleagues, and facilitate access to licensed disease‑modifying therapies.
- Work autonomously with the Heart Failure Consultants and Lead Heart Failure Nurse, managing your own caseload and ensuring care aligns with evidence‑based national guidelines and Trust policies.
- Advocate for and support the Trust’s flexible working arrangements, contributing to a diverse and inclusive environment.

– Essential Criteria
- Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register
- Level 7 Post‑graduate Certificate (min 60 credits) or a Master’s degree in a relevant speciality, OR equivalent knowledge assessed through evidence of training, experience or portfolio
- Specialist training / qualification in the area of practice
- Evidence of leading learning in practice
- Completion of all Band 6 competencies within the relevant speciality
- Specialist clinical skills and experience within the speciality
- Evidence of change management, leadership and innovation
- Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within the relevant speciality
- Evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice, providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Evidence of supporting, managing and supervising a range of learning in practice
- Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training
- Experience acting as a Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners
- Multidisciplinary team working experience
- Experience of nurse‑led care / clinics in own practice
- Team leadership role experience
- Awareness of own leadership style and skills
- Registered as an independent prescriber
- Leadership qualification / training
