POSITION TITLE: REGISTERED TECHNOLOGIST

DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL IMAGING

LOCATION: SOUTHAMPTON

UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU - HPD

STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE MARCH 2027)

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging, the Medical Radiation Technologist’s (MRT) key responsibilities include:

Performing radiographic examinations, CT examinations (at designated sites), electrocardiograms, and Holter Monitor application;

Monitoring and adjusting equipment to ensure high-quality radiographs and a safe working environment on all shifts;

Providing instruction to patients before and during examinations;

Assessing the relevance of examinations based on patient clinical history;

Maintaining competency in the radiology and CT examinations required and performed within the department.

Duties are conducted in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Health Professionals Act.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

3-year community college or undergraduate degree
Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario in Radiography or eligibility for registration
Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (or eligibility for registration)
Working knowledge of the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Health Professionals Act
Current CT experience
Technical experience with Digital Radiography and Computed Radiography equipment used to acquire high-quality images, including Operating Room experience where required
Current PACS experience
IV Certification course
Advanced computer skills
Proven interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with patients and staff
Ability in initiative/self-management, problem solving, and accountability
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Positive advocate for the professional body of Radiology and the Imaging Department
Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and call, with multi-site coverage when required
Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
