Overview
Within NHS England, South East Region, the Wessex Local Office is responsible for the planning, development, education and training of the future and current healthcare and public health workforce across Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Salisbury. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Consultant to be the new Deputy Head of School of Medicine and Pathology. The School provides a framework for partnership between NHS England, The Royal College and local Trusts, to ensure the highest standards of specialty training.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop the Postgraduate School of Medicine and Pathology, focusing on improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience.
- Engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes for current and future programmes.
- Support the ongoing development of existing training programmes and identify new training opportunities to complement and enhance current offerings.
- Drive whole workforce transformation and develop multi‑professional links.
- Implement innovative curriculum delivery methods and workforce well‑being strategies.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including NHS England, local Trusts and The Royal College.
The Deputy Head must be a senior clinician within NHS England. The role is professionally and managerially accountable to the Postgraduate Dean.
Application ProcedureRecruitment will be conducted on a secondment basis. Applicants must obtain agreement from their NHS employer and confirm that the arrangement can function as a secondment with time freed in their job plan. A reference from the Trust Director of Medical Education will be required. Upon selection, an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) will be initiated via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR).
Candidates may opt out of the IAT at any stage.
