Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

The closing date is 22 March 2026

Southampton CAMHS has an exciting opportunity for a 12‑month secondment for a Band 7 BABCP‑accredited CBT therapist. This is a full‑time role within the Southampton Core CAMHS team that focuses on delivering high‑quality, specialist CBT interventions to children and young people with significant mental health difficulties (including anxiety, depression, OCD and PTSD). The role also involves contributing to the wider core CAMHS team by completing initial assessments, supporting duty roster, and engaging in formulation discussions, clinical and team meetings.

Main

duties of the job

We are looking for a confident professional with a demonstrable track record of providing evidence‑based CBT interventions to children and young people. We welcome applications from BABCP‑accredited CBT therapists who share our passion for delivering the best quality care experience for children and their families. This role will be closely supported by the other Band 7 CBT therapists in the team and by the Principal and Senior Clinical Psychologist.

Southampton CAMHS is a supportive team with robust structures for regular supervision and reflective practice. We are committed to offering a comprehensive induction plan and support package to help you feel welcomed and settled into the team. This is a great opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team and to deliver high‑quality children's mental health services.

About us

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides joined‑up mental and physical healthcare for around two million people across our communities. With over 13,000 staff working in the community and local hospitals, we deliver care at every stage of life, helping people live their best and healthiest lives.

Our mental health services include community‑based support and early intervention in psychosis (EIP) for both adults and young people, alongside a network of specialist inpatient wards covering forensic, learning disability, eating disorder and older person’s care.

We also deliver extensive physical health services, from urgent community response teams helping frail and older patients remain safely at home, to hospitals‑at‑home teams providing acute‑level care in familiar surroundings. Our neurological services offer rehabilitation and treatment for conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Head Injury, Cerebral Palsy and Stroke. Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

Everything we do is underpinned by our CARE values: compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
