Progressive Specialist Medicine Pharmacist – Band 6 to 7

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, Southampton, England.

Overview

We are looking for a clinical pharmacist to join our Division B pharmacy team. The role supports ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings across Acute and Elderly Care departments, with rotation across AMU, Respiratory, Medicine for older people, Hepatology, Gastroenterology and General medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a clinical pharmacy service to the area assigned, with opportunity to specialise and develop services.
  • Support the Senior Care Group Pharmacist in delivering specialist pharmacy service.
  • Undertake project work to support the specialty and personal development.
Work schedule

Expected to work 1 in 5 late nights until 7pm, 1 in 6 weekends (Saturday or Sunday). All staff contribute extended hours, weekends and bank holidays as part of core hours, including dispensing prescriptions and clinical duties.

Qualifications
  • Enthusiastic, patient‑focused pharmacist with strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and commitment to professional development; postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or MSc in clinical or management qualifications desirable.
  • Applicants who already meet required competencies may be offered a Band 7 contract upon appointment.
  • Will be supported by an established Medicines Management Service and specialist pharmacists.
Team and Support

Division B is the largest clinical pharmacy team in the Trust, covering over 20 inpatient wards, the emergency department and outpatient areas. You will work closely with ward teams and be supported by medicines management technicians and senior assistant technical officers.
